Day 140, and another red one. The bot lost 2.43% today, which hurt, but it was actually the mildest loss of the three things I track: BTC fell 4.73% and QQQ fell 3.99%. Having roughly half the account in USDT cushioned the drop. The bigger picture is still rough. The bot is down 24.4% overall, compared with QQQ at -11.15% and BTC still up 19.08%. The bot's current drawdown is -28.39%, against a worst-ever of -31.24%. Most of this week's slide came from yesterday's -7.86% day. Cumulative went from -14.85% on Oct 31 to -24.4% now.

The rebalancer made one trade, a SOXL buy at 00:59. Under the rules, it only trades when an asset drifts at least 2 percentage points from target. After yesterday's hit, SOXL had apparently slipped far enough under its 25% target to trigger a top-up. By the close, the weights were BTC 25.51%, SOXL 26.63% and USDT 47.87%.

On attribution, SOXL was the main driver. It took 1.15 percentage points off the bot's result as its price fell 6.58%, from 51.38 to 48.0. BTC cost 0.94 points on a 3.64% drop, from 78,249.1 to 75,404.5, and fees and funding took another 0.34 points. SOXL tracks 3x the daily move of US semiconductor stocks, so a broad chip selloff hits it hard. The headlines describe exactly that. A chip rout driven by fears about the AI trade extended into a second day, with names like Qualcomm, Micron and AMD leading the sector lower, and the selling spilled into Asian chip stocks (Bloomberg, Yahoo Finance, CNBC). For BTC, the coverage points to a deepening risk-off mood that pushed it to a seven-week low as the Nasdaq tumbled, along with outflows from bitcoin ETFs (Bloomberg, Bitcoin Magazine, Yahoo Finance).

My honest takeaway is that the cash buffer did its job today, but it doesn't change the fact that the SOXL leg drives most of the pain on bad days. The rebalancer keeps adding to that leg after it falls. That is the strategy working as designed, and it's also why the drawdown has gotten this deep.

Methodology

Total equity is logged by the bot every hour at :59. Deposits are removed at the hour they arrive and returns are chained as a time-weighted return (TWR). Daily return compares the last snapshot of the day with the previous day's last snapshot. Benchmarks use Bybit BTCUSDT spot and QQQUSDT perpetual hourly closes.
